RADFORD, Va. – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, finished 10th in the second half of the Dirty Dozen Cup Pine Ridge Nursery Twin 125s at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., on Saturday, August 10. Lanpher finished 11th in the first 125-lap Late Model Stock event, forced to battle for track position after qualifying 12th out of 21 cars in a light mist in the No. 8 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. The 15-year-old JR Motorsports development driver fought through a loose-handling car caused by an oil leak in the rear end in the first event, and in the second event he battled a number of top NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national championship contenders to post the Top-10 finish.

REID, HOW DOES IT FEEL TO RECORD A COUPLE OF SOLID FINISHES?

We’re finally on our way back toward where we left off at Southern National at the beginning of the year, and we came home with the car in one piece. We ran well, and we ran hard side-by-side with some really good cars for 30-40 laps. I got a lot of good racing experience, too.

It just feels good.

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE THIS TIME AROUND?

I think it was that we finally got a full two races in with the car, so now we know what to change for next time. We don’t have to spend the time fixing the car, we can make it better.

The car was going better than it had been, and we stayed out of trouble the whole race. Honestly, it was just nice to finish both races.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE LEAKING FLUID?

(Crew chief Seth Kooika) thinks the seal blew out of the rear end. I’m not really sure. We were pretty fast, but it’s just so hard to pass there, anyway. I’m sure that didn’t help us.
