If you race cars or motorcycles you know spring has not officially started until the first gate drops and the first flag waves green. Over the weekend the flag waved for Reid Lanpher in his Pro Stock at Thompson Speedway in Thompson, CT. At the same time Patrick Prescott lined is Supermini and 85 up against some of New England’s fastest riders at the NEMX Round #2 in Southwick, MA.

The weather was perfect for round 1 of the Granite State Pro Stock Series and Reid Lanpher had a car he was very confident with. It was quickly apparent that all of the hard work the team has put in during the off season was well worth it when Reid went out and took the win in his qualifier. This gave the #59 a starting position of p3 for the 40 lap main event. Lanpher got off to a great start but as the race drew on the car tightened up and he started to lose positions. His experience and drive to win kept him up towards the front and he would take the checkered flag in 4th.

“Had a very fun weekend, learned a lot, and rolled the car in the trailer in one piece. Thanks to everybody that helped. Great start to the 2015 season!!!” – Facebook, Reid Lanpher Racing.

IMG_0768While things went smoothly on the pavement, Patrick Prescott kicked his weekend off with some damage to the #199 Supermini machine. Patrick pulled a great start and was running about mid pack when he came together with another rider. The impact crushed the pipe but he was able to ride it to a 24th place moto finish. The rest of his day would go much smoother and despite having to race his 85 in moto 2 of the Supermini class, he crossed the line in 17th and grabbed a 22nd overall for the day. Patrick found more success in the 85 motos with scores of 11-9 to round the weekend out in the top 10. The Southwick sand provides a unigue challenge for all racers, so with this being Patricks first ride at the “338”, he showed great speed and major potential for the rest of 2015.

With that, Team EJP Racing is off and running for the season. Next on the agenda is putting the #141 of Lane Shorey on the track to see what results he will get from his work this off season.
