With $10,000 on the line, Reid Lanpher began the US Pro Stock/ Super Late Model National Championship with a P2 in qualifying and was hopeful about his chances for taking the win. The large purse will bring out some of the region’s top contenders for the 200 lap race around the Seekonk Speedway.

“Honestly the car was great from the moment we unloaded on Tuesday” Reid said. “This wasn’t an easy race by any means. Dave Darling and Joey Polewarczyk were really on the move.” Reid was leading midway through the race, and during the halfway break they drew to reorder the top five randomly. Reid drew 5th. He made his way to 3rd and settled in until the leaders came together, allowing Lanpher the opportunity to gain the lead. With about 50 laps to go Reid held off the pressure from the pack to take the checkered flag in the lead.

Now Reid has set his sights on the K & N Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, his home turf. “It would be great to come away with a win but we do not have as much time in that car as the competition. I’m excited to get out there and see what we can do!”

Team EJP Racing’s Andy Mathieu has been cleared to ride the bike for the first time since his early spring injury. Andy hopes to be lining back up to race in mid August.
